Baby bumpers?

Like everyone knows, Elle has been pushing her head against the slats of the crib at night. This wakes her up and she cries. We are thinking about getting her a bumper for her crib.

What does everyone think about that? Elle's dad is worried about safety. I have heard bad things about little babies and bumper safety. I have also heard that some babies use the bumpers to pole vault out when they are able to pull themselves up.

Just call me nervous Nelly, but I don't know what to think.

  2. Hmmm... hard decision. I've heard horror stories too. My solution to the bumper debate when Olivia was little, was to roll up small receiving blankets to kind of create a small bumper sort of thing... Most of the bumpers I've seen are about 6 inches or so in height and very padded and I was worried about SIDS etc. The rolled up blankets were no taller than probably 2 inches. My makeshift baby blanket bumper was essentially free and no big deal to remove when/if I felt it was no longer safe.

  3. Oooh, blankets are a good idea. Better than a little sleeping helmet!
