Last Friday, Elle’s dad came home from work…he works hard…he picked up his daughter and said to me, “I love how she is always so clean when I get home.” I said to him, “Put her down for a second and follow me to the kitchen” (subtext: where she can’t hear me scream at you or see me hit you with a frying pan). I then asked him what he was thinking, that I was raising some dirty faced baby, sitting on the couch watching 90210 reruns all day while he worked.
He replied, “No, I just meant she always smells nice.”
I told him to be more sensitive in his choice of compliments.
Seriously! Where does he get off? He better think before he just throws out a random compliment next time.
